Acupuncture
Surprisingly to most new patients, acupuncture is very relaxing. We will talk you through everything we do and we will do our best to answer all your questions. Most treatments involve up to 12 needles put into different places each time and acupuncture can treat almost anything but is specifically good for menstrual irregularities such as late ovulation, spotting or painful periods.
We tailor our treatments for women to each stage in the menstrual cycle, or each stage of your drug protocol for IVF patients. For men we usually vary between using acupuncture points on the back and along the legs.
Acupuncture works very well in combination with any assisted fertility treatment. The nurses and consultants at the ART unit of the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary see many patients who are having acupuncture treatment with us and are positive about its effects.
